Archiving Organizations

Archive an organization when you no longer manage it, for example when a customer leaves. Archiving does not delete the organization's data, and you can recover the organization later.

When you archive an organization:

  • Its suborganizations are archived too.
  • It is hidden from the Organizations list in System management.
  • Agents that belong to it can no longer report to Nanitor.
  • Its assets, issues and settings are kept.

Before you start

You need the System administrator role to archive or recover organizations. If no one in your company has this role, contact Nanitor support.

Archive an organization

  1. Log in to Nanitor with a system administrator account.
  2. Make sure you are not in the organization you want to archive, or in one of its suborganizations. Archiving a parent organization also archives the suborganization you are in. To switch, click the current organization name in the top bar, click Switch organization, and select another organization.
  3. Click the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner and select System management.
  4. Click Organizations in the left menu.

  5. Find the organization in the list, click the action menu (...) at the end of its row, and click Archive.

  6. Click Archive to confirm.

Find and recover an archived organization

Archived organizations are hidden from the list. To show them, click More, select Include archived and apply the filter. The Archived column shows Yes for archived organizations.

To recover an organization, open the action menu (...) on its row and click Recover. After an organization is recovered, its agents can report to Nanitor again.

  • Recovering a parent organization does not recover its suborganizations. Recover the parent first, and then each suborganization. If you recover a suborganization while its parent is still archived, it becomes a top-level organization.
  • You cannot recover an organization while an active organization has the same name.
